Wonder and Zipline Partner to Launch Drone Meal Delivery in Texas
Wonder, a food technology platform, and Zipline, an autonomous delivery service, have partnered to provide drone-delivered meals from Wonder locations across Texas. The service is scheduled to begin in January 2027, allowing customers to order meals via drone from select locations.
Ahead of its Texas expansion, Wonder is developing infrastructure to support a scalable drone delivery network, including storefront construction, kitchen buildouts, logistics, and ordering technology. Drone delivery is intended to increase delivery speed and reach areas not served by traditional delivery models.
Texas was selected for its expansive geography, fast-growing metropolitan areas, and strong adoption of technology. By the end of 2027, Wonder expects the majority of its Texas locations to offer drone delivery, starting in Dallas, with the goal of providing faster and more flexible service across the state.
Zipline’s electric drones autonomously retrieve orders and deliver them directly to customers’ homes. Zipline has completed more than 2.5 million autonomous deliveries worldwide across healthcare, food, and retail sectors, and currently offers more than 100,000 items for order in the U.S.
At Wonder locations, Zipline’s system will be integrated into kitchen and ordering workflows to enable automated flights, pickups, and deliveries. The service does not require special packaging and can be adopted by restaurants without significant infrastructure changes. Wonder will use the Zipline Dropbox, a pickup solution with indoor and outdoor loading capabilities that can be added to locations without construction. Orders are loaded into a secure drawer, and Zipline handles the delivery autonomously.
