WaBa Grill Appoints Afshin Compani As President and COO

WaBa Grill has promoted Afshin Compani to President and Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Compani will oversee systemwide operations, franchise performance, and strategic growth as the brand approaches its 20th anniversary in 2026 and an expansion to 200 locations.

Compani brings more than 30 years of operational and franchise leadership experience, including senior leadership roles at Taco Bell, Taco Bell International (Yum! Restaurants International), and El Pollo Loco. He has played a key part in strengthening WaBa Grill’s foundation and preparing for future growth.

As President, Compani will focus on driving performance across the system, supporting franchise operations, and accelerating WaBa Grill’s next phase of expansion to more than 200 units and $200 million in sales. These milestones are identified as being within reach in the brand’s 20th year.

Compani’s elevation reflects WaBa Grill’s commitment to experienced, tenured leadership during a period of executive turnover and operational volatility in the restaurant industry. The company was founded in Los Angeles by Kyle Lee, Eric Lee, and Brian Ham, and is approaching its 20th anniversary in 2026.
