McDonald’s Launches First Job Confessional Campaign With In-Person and Online Events

McDonald’s will launch the First Job Confessional campaign on March 6, National Employee Appreciation Day, inviting participants to share stories about their first jobs and the skills they gained. The campaign will begin in New York City at Gansevoort Plaza, 38 Gansevoort St., with confessional booth events scheduled for Friday, March 6, at 2 p.m. ET and Saturday, March 7, at 1 p.m.

The confessional booth is designed to resemble a McDonald’s ordering kiosk, where participants record their first job stories instead of placing an order. Individuals who participate in person at the booth will have the opportunity to receive a $15 McDonald’s gift card, while supplies last. The campaign also includes an online component, allowing individuals to share their stories using the hashtag #FirstJobConfessional for a chance to have their video featured on McDonald’s YouTube channel.

After the New York City launch, the First Job Confessional booth will travel to Austin, Texas, from March 15 to March 17; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on April 23; and Chicago, Illinois, from July 28 to July 29. TV personality Olandria Carthen is participating in the campaign, sharing her experiences about her first job and the skills she developed.

The campaign highlights skills gained from first jobs, such as time management, communication, and collaboration. McDonald’s states that 1 in 8 Americans has worked at a McDonald’s restaurant.

Gift cards are available only at in-person confessional events and are subject to availability. The campaign is open to anyone who wishes to participate by sharing their first job experience, either in person at the confessional booth or online.

Additional information about the campaign and the 1 in 8 community of current and former McDonald’s crew members is available at McDonalds1in8.com.
