Wendy’s Signs Franchise Agreements for Over 60 New Restaurants in Mexico
Wendy’s has finalized agreements with two franchise groups to open more than 60 new restaurants in Mexico as part of its strategy to accelerate expansion across Latin America.
In the Mexico City region, Wendy’s has entered into a franchise agreement with AJ Group to develop 50 new restaurants in Mexico City and the states of Mexico, Hidalgo, and Morelos. The first new restaurant in Mexico City is planned to open this year.
For the northern region, Wendy’s has signed a franchise agreement with WS Pacific to develop 12 new restaurants across the states of Sinaloa and Durango. The first restaurant in this region is targeted to open by year’s end.
Mexico’s burger quick-service restaurant market reached $2.4 billion in 2024, with an average annual growth rate of 14.3% over the past five years, according to Euromonitor International. Continued growth is projected at 7.1% annually. In areas where Wendy’s is already established, 71% of consumers have tried the brand. In regions where Wendy’s has not yet opened a restaurant, the brand has 92% awareness and a 46% trial rate, according to Wendy’s brand health tracking in August 2025.
