Din Tai Fung to Open First Arizona Restaurant in Scottsdale

Din Tai Fung will open its first Arizona location in Scottsdale at 7014 E Camelback Rd in Scottsdale Fashion Square. The restaurant will begin a soft opening on March 12, operating daily as reservation-only with its full menu available. The grand opening is scheduled for April 20. Reservations are available online beginning February 26.

The new restaurant is expected to create more than 300 jobs in the Greater Scottsdale region. Din Tai Fung Scottsdale has launched a local hiring initiative and is accepting applications for positions including servers, cooks, bartenders, and other front- and back-of-house roles.

As part of a phased opening, takeout orders can be placed in-person or online starting March 16. Delivery services will begin on March 30. Walk-in availability and phone-in takeout orders will start on April 6.

The Scottsdale restaurant has a capacity of 340 seats and occupies 10,000 square feet. Design elements include interiors with gold, cream, and wood tones, stone, glass, and metal materials, an intimate bar with a coved wood ceiling, lantern-inspired pendants, a mirrored back bar, and amber tile. The main dining room features a sculptural tree and banquette seating.

Din Tai Fung is known for its Xiao Long Bao, soup dumplings made using an 18-fold, 21-gram process. The Scottsdale location will offer the full menu, including Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao, Cucumber Salad, Spicy Wontons, String Beans with Garlic, and the Pear Lychee Martini. At the Scottsdale grand opening, a new menu item, Steak Fried Noodles, will debut and will be introduced at other Din Tai Fung restaurants later in the year.

The Scottsdale opening marks Din Tai Fung’s 20th location in North America. The company has more than 165 locations worldwide. Din Tai Fung has also announced plans for a second Arizona location at Chandler Fashion Center, scheduled for next year.
