Mexico City’s Handshake Speakeasy has maintained its position as the Best Bar in North America for the second year, as announced at the fourth annual North America’s 50 Best Bars awards on April 29, 2025. The event, sponsored by Perrier, was held for the first time in Canada at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver.
The list features 26 bars from the United States, 14 from Mexico, eight from Canada, and two from the Caribbean. Among the notable winners are Bar Pompette in Toronto, awarded as The Best Bar in Canada, and Library by the Sea in Grand Cayman, named The Best Bar in the Caribbean.
Julie Reiner of Clover Club and Milady’s in New York received the Roku Industry Icon Award, while Lemon in Chicago won the Campari One To Watch Award. The Three Cents Best New Opening Award was given to Clemente Bar in New York, and Thunderbolt in Los Angeles earned the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award.
In other categories, Toronto’s Civil Works won the Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award, Mírate from Los Angeles claimed the Nikka Highest Climber Award, and New York’s Sip & Guzzle received the Disaronno Highest New Entry Award. The Best Bar Design Award, sponsored by St-Germain, was awarded to Carry On from Phoenix, and Licorería Limantour in Mexico City received the Rémy Martin Legend of the List Award.
Superbueno in New York City holds the second place on the list, retaining the title of The Best Bar in Northeast USA, sponsored by Naked Malt. Following at third place is Tlecān, also from Mexico City.
