U.S. Launch of Robot Deliveries By DoorDash and Coco Robotics in Los Angeles and Chicago
DoorDash and Coco Robotics are partnering to offer sidewalk robot delivery for DoorDash customers in Los Angeles and Chicago, building on an existing pilot program with Wolt—DoorDash’s international arm—where Coco robots have been making deliveries in Helsinki since earlier this year.

DoorDash, an international local commerce platform, and Coco Robotics, a food delivery robotics company, have revealed an expanded partnership to provide robot delivery services for DoorDash customers in select U.S. regions. The announcement comes after a successful pilot program in Helsinki, Finland, where Coco robots have been delivering for Wolt, DoorDash’s international branch.
The U.S. launch is now active in Los Angeles and Chicago. Eligible customers can check the availability of Coco’s fleet of environmentally friendly sidewalk robots on the DoorDash app. If available, one may be assigned to their order from nearly 600 participating businesses.
Coco reportedly completed over 100,000 deliveries during the initial pilot phase for DoorDash customers. This enhanced collaboration supports DoorDash’s ongoing efforts to improve last-mile logistics by developing a highly efficient, sustainable, and scalable multi-modal delivery platform.
Harrison Shih, Senior Director of DoorDash Labs, emphasized the need for a diverse delivery system, stating, “Not every delivery needs a 2-ton car just to deliver two chicken sandwiches.” He added that they view the future of delivery as multi-modal and are excited to ally with Coco to augment sidewalk robot deliveries.
DoorDash’s wider global strategy involves a multi-modal delivery platform—integrating human couriers (Dashers), drones, and autonomous robots—to meet rising demand while reducing costs and emissions.
Zach Rash, co-founder and CEO of Coco Robotics, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership expansion. He believes this collaboration signifies a significant step towards transforming urban delivery in the U.S., beginning with Los Angeles and Chicago.
Coco Robotics, which started operations in Los Angeles in 2020, has recently launched in Chicago, Miami, and Helsinki, Finland. The company boasts a fleet of over 1,000 eco-friendly delivery robots.
