Papa Johns Partners with Google Cloud to Enhance Customer Experience with AI Technology

Papa Johns has announced an expanded multi-year partnership with Google Cloud to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing the pizza ordering and delivery experience. This collaboration will see the formation of an innovation team, PJX, that will use Google Cloud’s AI, data analytics and machine learning capabilities.

This partnership aims to provide a more streamlined and consistent experience for customers, both in-store and through digital channels. By harnessing the power of AI, Papa Johns expects to achieve increased order frequency, higher-value orders, and improved customer satisfaction. An AI-powered chatbot developed using Google Cloud’s technology will facilitate this.

Todd Penegor, Papa Johns’ President and CEO, expressed optimism about the partnership, stating that it will help the company personalize its services to the next level. He added that the company is not merely reacting to orders but anticipating customer needs, thereby providing tailored recommendations and offers.

Using Google’s AI, Papa Johns plans to predict customer ordering patterns and offer personalized promotions and ordering shortcuts. The pizza chain also aims to build an AI-powered chatbot to handle common customer inquiries and escalate complex issues to live agents.

The partnership will also see Papa Johns transition to a Google Cloud-based point-of-sale (POS) system. This will lay the groundwork for AI-driven dispatching, route optimization, and intelligent automation of key restaurant processes.

Google Cloud’s portfolio of data, analytics, and AI capabilities will aid Papa Johns in delivering proactive, hyper-personalized service, according to Matt Renner, President, Global Revenue, Google Cloud.
