McDonald’s Leaps into the Gaming Universe with a Minecraft-Themed Meal and Happy Meal

In a fusion of fast food and gaming, McDonald’s USA is launching a limited-time Minecraft-themed meal and Happy Meal, inspired by the highly anticipated film “A Minecraft Movie.” This collaboration enables customers to immerse themselves in Minecraft while enjoying their favorite McDonald’s delicacies.
Starting April 1, McDonald’s patrons can order a Minecraft Movie Meal, which includes a choice of a Big Mac or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, medium fries, a drink, and a limited-edition collectible. The McNuggets meal offers an exclusive Nether Flame Sauce, a fiery concoction inspired by the Minecraft Nether, featuring crushed red pepper, cayenne, garlic, and a hint of sweetness. The Minecraft Movie Happy Meal, designed for younger fans and families, includes one of 12 film-inspired figurines or Block World toys. Each Happy Meal also has a code that unlocks an exclusive digital game themed after “A Minecraft Movie.”
A Minecraft Movie Meal includes one of six collectibles inspired by McDonald’s most beloved characters, menu items, and popular Minecraft treasures. Each collectible has a matching card and a redeemable code to unlock the corresponding, exclusive skin in the Minecraft Marketplace. The collectibles range from the Big Mac Crystal, derived from the special sauce, to the Zombie Hamburglar, a mob that roams in search of hamburgers.
McDonald’s App users purchasing a Minecraft Movie Meal will also receive a bonus as a redeemable code to unlock the McDonald’s Add-On pack in Minecraft. This includes additional gameplay components such as McDonaldland characters, builds, and tools.
The collaboration, according to Jennifer “JJ” Healan, McDonald’s VP, U.S. Marketing, Brand, Content & Culture, is built on the existing presence of McDonald’s in the Minecraft game. “We built upon what they started and created an immersive experience, custom Minecraft Movie Meals in our restaurants, and collectibles that unlock unique in-game features,” she explained.
The launch of this innovative campaign plays an integral role in bridging the gap between the McDonald’s and Minecraft universes. It offers a unique experience to fans of both worlds and is a testament to the evolving dynamics of customer engagement in the fast-food industry.
The limited-time Minecraft Movie Meal and Happy Meal will be available at McDonald’s restaurants nationwide starting April 1, while supplies last.
